A reproduction of a 17th century Spanish frame

Commissioned by Paul Mitchell Ltd we produced this reproduction of a 17th century Spanish frame using the smaller antique frame shown in our image as a reference.  The frame has hand carved leafwork to the corners and centres which are applied to the frieze.  These carved areas are water gilded while the rest of the frame has an aged black finish.  The reproduction frame needed to have the appearance of an antique seventeenth century frame which was achieved by careful distressing including wear and toning to the gilding and paint work.
