Antique Louis XV frame restoration

The restoration of this antique Louis XV frame required removal of loose gesso and light cleaning.  Gesso putty was applied to the losses including gessoing where necessary;  areas of the leaf-work were re-cut to help define and add detail; the relief also re-cut in a diaper pattern.  Sections of the frame's background were punched then the newly gilded areas toned to match the antique patination.
