Restoration & alteration to a 17th century frame

This beautiful antique 17th century frame with hand carved corners, centres and gilded scrollwork required altering to fit a canvas.  As you can see from the images the frame needed to be completely dismantled, including the carving in order to then reduce the size.  Once reassembled careful restoration of the water gilding and paint-work was required to put the frame back to it's original condition.
